After trading closer Josh Hader to the San Diego Padres, the Milwaukee Brewers brought in a veteran reliever in Trevor Rosenthal.

The Milwaukee Brewers made the stunning decision to trade closer Josh Hader to the San Diego Padres. It was a move that left the fanbase and even the players scratching their heads. Well now, the team has filled the void with a veteran who the Brewers know all too well.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Brewers are acquiring Trevor Rosenthal from the San Francisco Giants. Rosenthal was the former closer for the St. Louis Cardinals during his time with the team from 2012 until 2017.

Brewers add Trevor Rosenthal to fill void in bullpen

While Rosenthal carries a big name, he has not pitched in a single game for the past two seasons. Last year, Rosenthal missed the entire campaign for the Oakland Athletics after he underwent surgeries for thoracic outlet syndrome and a torn hip labrum. Rosenthal did not pitch at all this season, as he signed a deal with the Giants on July 21.

In his last full season, Rosenthal recorded a 1.90 ERA, a 0.845 WHIP, 38 strikeouts, and eight walks in 23.2 innings of work (23 games) split between the San Diego Padres and Kansas City Royals.

Rosenthal has recorded 132 saves in his career, 14 of them coming against the Brewers.

Fans in Milwaukee are well aware of Rosenthal based off his time with the Cardinals. Now, he is a Brewer.
