The Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks were among the teams who called the New York Jets for wide receiver Denzel Mims.

With the regular-season officially beginning on Sept. 8, NFL teams are looking to improve their rosters any way they can. For those in need of a wide receiver, Denzel Mims was a potential target, as he requested a trade from the New York Jets towards the end of the preseason. As it turns out, there were plenty of takers.

According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, the Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, and Carolina Panthers called the Jets about acquiring Mims. The Jets were looking for a fourth-round pick in return, but no team was willing to match it, per Hughes.

Cowboys, Seahawks, more reportedly call Jets for WR Denzel Mims

It is well known that the Cowboys are in need of some wide receiver help. James Washington was placed on injured reserve after he fractured his right foot. Michael Gallup was not placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, but it is unknown if he will be ready for the season-opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gallup is recovering from a torn ACL suffered late last season.

As for the Seahawks, they already have D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. However, this report indicates they were open to adding more help on the offense. The passing attack will be led by Geno Smith, with Drew Lock being the team’s backup option.

The Jets selected Mims in the second-round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Baylor. In his first season, he caught 23-of-44 targets for 357 yards in nine games. This past season, Mims recorded eight receptions for 133 yards on 23 targets in 11 games (three starts).

Mims made the team’s 53-man roster, and will be a part of New York’s receiving corps consisting of Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, and rookie Garrett Wilson.
