Gary Sanchez made his return to the Bronx, and got revenge against the New York Yankees by hitting a massive home run.

Entering this season, Gary Sanchez played for a team not named the New York Yankees for the first time in his career. That is because he was part of a trade that brought Minnesota Twins infielders Josh Donaldson and Isiah Kiner-Falefa to New York. On Sept. 5, Sanchez returned to the Bronx for the first time since the trade and as a member of the opposing team.

Sanchez made quite the statement against his former team, as he hit a massive two-run homer deep to the bleachers located in left field to tie the game at 2-2. In fact, the homer measured at 473-feet, which is the longest home run surrendered by the Yankees all season.

Gary Sanchez makes statement against Yankees

That is quite the way to make an impact. But for Sanchez, he accounted for all of Minnesota’s runs for the game.

The Yankees were able to break the tie to defeat the Twins 5-2. Star Aaron Judge hit a two-run homer of his own in the bottom of the sixth inning, which was his 54th home run of the season. Then in the bottom of the seventh, Kiner-Falefa hit a solo home run to further cushion their lead.

Sanchez was 1-for-4 at the plate, with his lone hit being the two-run homer.

Following this game, Sanchez recorded a .214 batting average, a .284 on-base percentage, a .398 slugging percentage, 14 home runs, 47 RBI, and 72 hits.

During the game, the Yankees played a video tribute to Sanchez and Gio Urshela, who went over to Minnesota in the aforementioned trade as well.
