The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Texas A&M Aggies shockingly lost in Week 2, and the college football rankings have been shaken up.

It did not take that long into the 2022 college football season for there to be some massive upsets. Earlier in the day, the Alabama Crimson Tide were on upset alert, but beat the Texas Longhorns 20-19. But since that score went final, TWO top 10 teams have lost.

First up, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. After losing their season opener against the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Fighting Irish had an easy game on paper against the Marshall Thundering Herd. Instead, Notre Dame lost 26-21 to start their season with an 0-2 record.

Then, the Texas A&M Aggies, who were expected to be a true force in the SEC. Instead, the sixth-ranked team in the nation were held to just 14 points. Texas A&M fell to the Appalachian State Mountaineers 17-14

So, with these top programs losing, how does the projected top 10 look now?

Projected college football rankings after Notre Dame, Texas A&M lose

Here is what the top 10 of the AP Top 25 rankings could look like come Sunday.

  1. Georgia Bulldogs
  2. Alabama Crimson Tide
  3. Ohio State Buckeyes
  4. Michigan Wolverines
  5. Clemson Tigers
  6. Oklahoma Sooners
  7. Baylor Bears
  8. USC Trojans
  9. Oklahoma State Cowboys
  10. Florida Gators

With Notre Dame and Texas A&M losing, they both drop out of the Top 10. Replacing them will be the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Florida Gators, the No. 11 and 12 ranked teams entering Week 2. Of course, that is contingent on the Cowboys beating the Arizona State Sun Devils and the Gators defeating the No. 20 Kentucky Wildcats.

Georgia takes the top spot following their easy 33-0 win over Samford, considering Alabama narrowly pulled off a win against Texas.

The Ohio State Buckeyes keep the third-overall ranking following their 45-12 win over the Arkansas State Red Wolves.

Dabo Swinney’s Clemson Tigers picked up a 35-12 over Furman Paladins.

Michigan, Oklahoma, Baylor and USC have all yet to play as of this writing.
