The hype surrounding the Los Angeles Chargers is disappearing, as they continue to get hammered with injuries.

The Los Angeles Chargers made moves in the offseason, adding the likes of Khalil Mack and J.C. Jackson, to help toward their goal of making it to the playoffs for the first time since 2018. But so far, the Chargers’ hype was curtailed due to the injuries the team has had to deal with thus far. Now, the injury list continues to grow for the Chargers following their 38-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3.

According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, starting left tackle Rashawn Slater suffered a ruptured biceps tendon in Week 3, and will be forced to miss the remainder of the 2022 season.

Star pass rusher Joey Bosa left the Week 3 game due to a groin injury. Head coach Brandon Staley revealed that the injury is significant and that he is week-to-week.

Chargers’ injuries continue to pile up

The loss of Slater for the season is bad news for quarterback Justin Herbert, who just last week suffered fractured rib cartilage against the Kansas City Chiefs. This is an injury that he continues to play through. Now, he will have to do so without his blindside blocker.

Meanwhile, losing Bosa for an indefinite period of time is devastating for the defense. He was the sacks leader from last season.

Through the first three games of the season, Bosa recorded seven combined tackles, four quarterback hits, two tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.

Every NFL season, there is one team that is hit with the injury bug badly. In 2022, that team is the Los Angeles Chargers.
