Arkansas Razorbacks running back Raheim Sanders had a huge gain on a run against the Alabama Crimson Tide, and he ran into a referee out of bounds.

After falling to the Texas A&M Aggies last week, the Arkansas Razorbacks hosted the second-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday. Arkansas at one point had Alabama reeling as they pulled within 28-23.

Early on in the game, Razorbacks running back Raheim Sanders picked up a huge 26-yard gain. As Sanders was pushed out of bounds, he ran into the sideline referee. Sanders’ arm made contact with the referee, causing him to take a tumble.

Arkansas football: Raheim Sanders accidentally knocks down ref

The referee appeared to be fine after the play.

Following this play, Arkansas was able to get in the end zone two plays later on a six-yard pass from KJ Jefferson to Ketron Jackson Jr.

The Razorbacks looked like they were going to pull off the upset. They cut their deficit to 28-14 on a 13-yard run by AJ Green, and then recovered an onside kick attempt, where they settled for a 22-yard field goal by Cam Little.

But after a turnover on downs that set Arkansas up at Alabama’s own three-yard line, Sanders ran into the end zone one play later to bring them within 28-23.

Unfortunately for the Razorbacks, the Crimson Tide were able to pull away on rushing touchdowns by Jase McClellan and Jahmyr Gibbs on back-to-back drives.

Sanders finished the game picking up 101 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries while catching two passes for 19 yards.

In Week 5, Sanders ran hard against Alabama. The referee can attest to that.
