Alabama head coach Nick Saban provided a positive injury update on quarterback Bryce Young, who left early in Week 5 against Arkansas.

The Alabama Crimson Tide suffered quite the scare in Week 5. Quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young left the team’s game against the Arkansas Razorbacks after landing hard on his throwing shoulder after a scramble.

While he did return to the sidelines with a helmet on for the second half, he did not play for the remainder of the game.

After the game, head coach Nick Saban revealed to the media that Young has a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder, but said that it is not serious and the quarterback is considered day-to-day.

This is probably the best possible news that Crimson Tide fans could have asked for.

In the second quarter, Young scrambled out of the pocket and to the right sideline. As he was in the process of being brought down by linebacker Drew Sanders, Young threw the football away, but landed hard on his right shoulder. Later on, after attempting a pass, he signaled to the sidelines. Prior to entering the medical tent, Young threw his helmet down and yelled.

After being seen by trainers, coaches, and players in the tent, Young went back to the locker room.

Prior to his injury, Young had completed 7-of-13 pass attempts for 173 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Redshirt freshman Jalen Milroe took over for the remainder of the game. Milroe completed four-of-nine pass attempts for 65 yards and a touchdown while running for 91 yards and a touchdown on six carries.

Alabama picked up the 49-26 victory to keep their undefeated season alive.

With this injury update, Young’s status will be worth monitoring in the days leading up to the team’s Week 6 game against the Texas A&M Aggies.
