In Week 7, Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker proved why he is a true threat to win the Heisman Trophy over Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud.

There are seven weeks of the 2022 college football season in the books, and we are getting that much closer not just to bowl game season, but to the year-end awards season. Perhaps the most anticipated award is the Heisman Trophy.

Early on in the season, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud play helped him become the favorite to win the award. But he may have some competition in the form of Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker, who not only played very well so far this season, but he played a role in Alabama suffering their first loss of the season.

After Week 7, did Hooker overtake Stroud in the rankings? Let’s take a look at the Top 10 rankings for the Heisman.

Heisman Trophy Power Rankings, Week 7 edition

Illinois. Chase Brown. Pick Analysis. RB. 10.. player. 807. Scouting Report

The Illinois Fighting Illini are a sleeper team this season, as they were 5-1 on the year entering Week 7. That is due in part to the ridiculous play of running back Chase Brown, who has rushing for triple digit yardage every single game this season

Facing off against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Brown ran for 180 yards on 41 carries (!) and caught three passes for 53 yards and a touchdown in the 26-14 victory.

Entering the game, Brown 879 yards and four touchdowns on 151 carries. In six games, Brown has put up an average of 146.5 rushing yards!

Brown does deserve some Heisman love for his play this season. He next plays in Week 9, when Illinois takes on the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
