Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said that whenever Tyron Smith returns, he will get his starting job back.

The Dallas Cowboys are in good shape entering Week 11. They overcame what could have been a disastrous injury to quarterback Dak Prescott, and they are currently 7-3 entering Week 11 after scoring a decisive victory over the Minnesota Vikings. They are set to play the New York Giants on Thanksgiving, and from there, they will hold a visit with free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

On top of all of that, Cowboys fans received even more good news this week.

During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Cowboys owner said that when left tackle Tyron Smith returns from his hamstring injury, he’ll get the starting job back.

Jerry Jones says Tyron Smith will be Cowboys starting left tackle whenever he returns

With this update, that means first-round draft pick Tyler Smith will make the transition to left guard upon the veteran’s return. Jones said that he thinks the rookie will “easily” make the move to left guard.

The Cowboys’ season looked to be getting off to a rough start before it even started when it was revealed that Smith had torn his left hamstring during training camp practice. With that, he was set to be sidelined until December.

It is important to note that there has been no update in regards to when exactly he’ll return.

The Cowboys will take on a banged-up Giants team on Thursday afternoon. With a win, the Cowboys will maintain sole possession of second-place in the division. This is also considered to be the game that may very well convince Beckham where to sign, as he is set to visit both teams after this matchup.

Cowboys fans will be waiting for the official return date for Smith, as the team continues to make a push for the playoffs.
