The Kansas City Chiefs had a rough start against the Cincinnati Bengals, and they received a questionable roughing the passer penalty.

The Kansas City Chiefs failed to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals in each of their two meetings last year, with the latter being in the AFC Championship Game. In Week 13, the Chiefs looked to pick up their 10th win of the season and inch closer to clinching the AFC West title.

Their road game in Cincinnati was far from easy, and it certainly didn’t help when they were called for one questionable penalty.

Late in the first quarter, the Chiefs appeared to have an interception off Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, but it was wiped out due to a defensive pass interference. On the following play, Burrow threw an incomplete pass intended for wide receiver Tee Higgins on second-and-eight. But, defensive lineman Taylor Stallworth was called for roughing the passer for his hit on Burrow.

Take a look at the play and judge for yourselves.

The play resulted in a 15-yard gain for Cincinnati and an automatic first down set up in Kansas City’s own 32-yard line. The last thing that Chiefs fans wanted to see was a roughing the passer penalty, considering the controversy they were involved in earlier this year (i.e. Chris Jones against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5).

This ultimately set the Bengals up for an eventual touchdown on a pass from Burrow to wide receiver Higgins to extend their lead to 14-3.

The Chiefs were able to get in the end zone with a little over two minutes remaining in the first half, after quarterback Patrick Mahomes connected with running back Jerrick McKinnon on a two-yard touchdown.

Depending on how this game ends, there will be talk about the roughing the passer penalty called on Stallworth.
