Yet another San Francisco 49ers quarterback is dealing with an injury, this time being Brock Purdy.

San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks have been hit hard by injuries this season. First, 2021 third-overall pick Trey Lance suffered a season-ending fractured ankle in Week 2. That paved the way for Jimmy Garoppolo to reclaim his starting job, but in Week 12, he suffered a broken foot, and could be out until the playoffs. That led to “Mr. Irrelevant” Brock Purdy to step up, and he has tremendously, leading the 49ers to wins over the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It may be time to admit Kyle Shanahan’s quarterbacks are cursed, based off the latest injury report.

Ahead of the team’s Week 14 game against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night, the 49ers are listing Purdy as questionable due to oblique and rib injuries.

49ers: Brock Purdy listed as questionable for Week 14

These injuries popped up during San Francisco’s second drive of the game against the Buccaneers, but he played through them. In that game, Purdy completed 16-of-21 pass attempts for 185 yards and two touchdowns, while also running for a touchdown in the team’s 35-7 win.

This week, Purdy was limited in all three of the team’s practices, per their injury report. With the game taking place on Thursday night, there should be an answer as to whether Purdy could start right ahead of kickoff.

If Purdy isn’t cleared to play against the Seahawks, then they will pivot to starting backup Josh Johnson. The 49ers signed Johnson immediately after it was determined that Garoppolo suffered his foot injury.

This happens to be an important game for the 49ers. If they are to beat the Seahawks, then they will officially clinch the NFC West title, which would be their first since 2019.

UPDATE (Dec. 15): According to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, Purdy is expected to start on Thursday night against the Seahawks.
