The Oklahoma Sooners are securing a top 10 recruiting class even after a disappointing and frustrating season for Brent Venables and company.

Brent Venables and his Oklahoma Sooners are looking to get moving in the right direction. Adding a top 10 recruiting class would certainly go a long way to helping get a proud program right back on track.

The Sooners are wrapping up a remarkably disappointing season, especially by Oklahoma’s incredibly high standards. Just making a bowl game isn’t going to cut it in Norman. But with Venables and his staff securing a signing class laden with talent, then there’s a really good shot for the Sooners to get rolling back in the right direction once more.

At the moment, OU has the No. 7 ranked recruiting class in the country. As it turns out, that’s good for second-best in the Big 12, just behind the Texas Longhorns and ahead of the TCU Horned Frogs.

Did the Oklahoma Sooners miss out on Peyton Bowen?

There was some thought amongst Oklahoma football fans that the Sooners might have a shot at being able to secure a commitment from Peyton Bowen. Bowen, one of the most talented defensive backs in the country, was committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and some thought there was a chance that he could sign somewhere other than with the folks in South Bend.

As it turns out, the talented, 4-star safety didn’t sign with Notre Dame. However, that doesn’t mean he signed with Oklahoma.

Instead, Bowen committed to the Oregon Ducks.

Which means that he’s currently not set to go to Norman, much to the frustration of many OU fans on Twitter. That said, the Sooners might still *theoretically* have a chance. At the moment, Bowen hasn’t signed with anyone yet.
