ESPN has received a new theme song for the College Football Playoff National Championship from legendary composer John Williams.

On Monday, the 2022 college football season officially reaches its end. The Georgia Bulldogs look to defend the College Football Playoff National Championship against the underdog TCU Horned Frogs with a win at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. This is going to be one of the biggest games of the year, and ESPN is going all out for the broadcast.

According to Variety, ESPN has a new theme song for the CFP National Championship Game, and it was written by none other than legendary composer John Williams. The song is titled “Of Grit and Glory,” and will debut on Monday ahead of the game during a video package.

The song will project “the feeling behind the night, fear and anticipation, triumph and failure,” according to ESPN’s Martin Khodabakhshian.

Variety previewed the song, and they say it “plays like a joyful overture, opening with fanfares and shifting seamlessly from martial urgency to anthemic splendor, all richly orchestrated and instantly memorable.”

ESPN actually showed a 17-second preview of the song during their broadcast of their NFL Week 18 Saturday Doubleheader. You can view that in ESPN PR’s tweet below:

Williams notably composed some of the most memorable scores in major motion pictures, such as Star Wars, Jaws, Superman, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, and more. Besides films, he notably composed the theme song for NBC’s Sunday Night Football.

Georgia is looking to become the first back-to-back national champions in the College Football Playoff era. They overcame a late 41-35 deficit to defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes 42-41 in the Peach Bowl.

Meanwhile, TCU had the biggest upset in College Football Playoff history by defeating the Michigan Wolverines 51-45 in the Fiesta Bowl.

Kickoff for the College Football Playoff National Championship Game will be at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
