A warrant has been issued for Dallas Cowboys rookie defensive end Sam Williams for his involvement in a violent car crash.

According to TMZ Sports, a misdemeanor warrant for reckless driving has been issued for Dallas Cowboys rookie defensive end Sam Williams for his role in a violent car crash back in mid-December in Plano, Texas. The Plano Police Department have contacted Williams and asked him to turn himself in.

The accident occurred on Dec. 22, when William’s black Corvette collided with another vehicle. The rookie defensive lineman and the 71-year-old woman in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Williams did miss the Cowboys’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16 due to a neck strain.

Police said they did not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident at the time.

Williams played his final three college seasons with the Ole Miss Rebels (2019-21). He had a breakout 2021 campaign where he was named First-team All-SEC and broke the program’s single-season sack record with 12.5.

The Cowboys used their second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft to select Williams. Through his first season, Williams was used as a rotational player on the defensive line. In his 15 games, Williams recorded 22 combined tackles, 10 tackles for loss, four sacks, three fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble.

Dallas is scheduled to play in the NFL Wild Card Round on Monday night, where they face the NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Williams’ status for that game is currently unknown, especially with a warrant issued by the Plano Police Department.
