Iowa’s Caitlin Clark’s buzzer-beater lifted the Hawkeyes over the No. 2 Indiana Hoosiers, and it left NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and George Kittle in awe.

March Madness is quickly approaching, and the teams are looking to clinch their spots in the annual tournament. On Sunday, the Iowa Hawkeyes’ women’s basketball team picked up a huge victory against one of the top ranked teams in the country — the Indiana Hoosiers.

Iowa trailed 85-83 with just 1.5 seconds remaining in regulation. Junior guard Clark received the inbounds pass from senior guard Kate Martin and with an opening, attempted a huge three-point shot. After a couple of seconds watching the basketball in the air, it went through the net to give Iowa the clutch 86-85 victory.

The clutch shot by Clark circulated on social media, and caught the attention of San Francisco 49ers tight end and former Iowa football star George Kittle and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

This was a huge victory for Iowa, as they handed Indiana their second loss of the season. That’s right, the last time the Hoosiers lost a game was back on Dec. 29 against the Michigan State Spartans.

Indiana was seemingly headed to a victory after senior forward Mackenzie Holmes made both free throw attempts to take the aforementioned 85-83 lead following a foul on Iowa senior forward Monika Czinano. Even with 1.5 seconds left on the clock, that was more than enough time for Clark to find an opening behind the three-point line and make the game-winning shot.

Clark led the Hawkeyes with 34 points, while shooting 12-for-22 from the field and 4-for-12 from the three-point line. The guard also led the team with nine assists and nine rebounds in 38 minutes played.

Now, Iowa will participate ini the Big Ten Championship tournament beginning on March 1. From there, they await their fate in the Selection Show on Sunday, March 12.
