The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly a “wild card” contender for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. Here are three reasons why they should move on from Kirk Cousins.

The Minnesota Vikings have done some overhauling of their roster. Gone are players like Adam Thielen, Eric Kendricks, Patrick Peterson, and Dalvin Tomlinson, and entering the organization are Byron Murphy Jr., Marcus Davenport, and Dean Lowry. This comes after the team went 13-4 on the year, but were eliminated by the New York Giants in the Wild Card Round. This is a new regime with general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O’Connell, and they are beginning to mold the team in their image.

On Sunday, there was some interesting information regarding Minnesota’s quarterback situation.

During an appearance on “SportsCenter” on Sunday, ESPN senior reporter Jeremy Fowler discussed teams that could be good fits for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who had the non-exclusive franchise tag placed on him, which allows other teams to sign him to an offer sheet. One of the teams that Fowler listed the Vikings as a fit for Jackson, who he specifically called a “wild card,” and noted that Kirk Cousins has one more year remaining on his contract.

That will certainly get the attention of Vikings fans. Whether the team actually makes a move for Jackson remains to be seen.

Here are three reasons why the Vikings should consider moving on from Cousins and make a run for Jackson.

3. When healthy, Lamar Jackson is a Top 10 QB in the NFL

One of the easy reasons why the Vikings should make a run for Jackson is, he’s one of the top quarterbacks in the game when he is healthy.

Let’s not forget that in his second year in the NFL (2019), Jackson won the NFL MVP award, and convincingly so. He had the ability to make throws with his arm, and showed off why he was a complete nightmare for defenders with his running ability and speed. Even this past season, Jackson showcased his ability to keep the Ravens in games.

Yes, Jackson has dealt with his fair share of injuries in recent years. After all, he did miss 10 regular season games the past two seasons, including five in 2022 due to an MCL sprain. But his talent is too good for the Vikings to pass up on.
