The Los Angeles Lakers took home court advantage from the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night, winning Game 1, 117-112 behind a monster 30-point, 23-rebound outing from Anthony Davis.

With a 1-0 series lead, the No. 7 seed Lakers are now considerable favorites to advance to the Western Conference Finals over the No. 6 seed Warriors ahead of Game 2 on Thursday. Los Angeles is -175 with the series lead and home court advantage moving forward.

Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Lakers series odds

Despite nearly squandering a double digit in the fourth quarter, the Lakers got one of Davis’ best performances of his career to outpace the Warriors and take a series lead.

The key to this one was Los Angeles’ ability to dictate the terms inside, shutting off the interior on defense with Davis, but also getting to the free throw line at will, taking 23 more free throws than the defending champs.

This is going to be the formula for success for LA, who can’t match Stephen Curry and the Warriors shot making, the Warriors made 15 more three’s than the Lakers in the loss.

Is it replicable? The Lakers are three wins away from the Conference Finals.
