The Mariners are the most recent team to release their city connect jersey, and wow they did not disappoint!

Seattle is the third team this season to introduce their city connect jerseys. The jerseys were leaked in April, with the full uniform being revealed May 5th for that night’s game with the Astros. With a plethora of other unique but perfectly striking jerseys, the M’s have added this deep blue jersey with bright yellow accents that complement each other perfectly. These uniforms will be worn at Friday home games for the next 3 years, highlighting baseball in the Pacific Northwest for years to come.

When will the Mariners wear their City Connect jerseys?

The jerseys and hats feature several nods to the history of baseball in the Pacific Northwest while capturing the spunk of the young but spirited team. The jerseys are derivative of the spirit of the Seattle area, incorporating inspiration from the Seattle Pilots – now the Milwaukee Brewers. While the Pilots only stayed in Seattle for one year, their legacy is enshrined in the font adorning the front of the new jerseys, similar to the light blue “Seattle” jerseys they donned in 1969.

The Mount Rainier motif and the black shadow under the font are tied to The Seattle Rainiers, a former minor league team that played from 1903 to 1906 & 1919 to 1968.

Tridents are displayed not only as the “M” symbol on the hat but also as a nod to the state of Washington but also to the W that is revealed on the roof following each home win.

The abbreviation: “PNW” is placed in front of Mt. Rainer to further symbolize the spirit of the Pacific Northwest. Surrounding these symbols, the leaves – one of the most memorable components of the old Pilots’ uniform have also been engrained onto the sleeves of the new jerseys. Famous phrases like “SoDo Mojo” (South of the Dome magic) and “My Oh My” (Former Broadcaster, Niehaus’ notable call) have also been added as small homages to the city and the team.

Not only are these meaningful representations but they also give meaning to the past of the team as well as what they will accomplish in the future.
