Phillies star Bryce Harper was ready to throw down against the entire Rockies squad as benches cleared in Denver on Mother’s Day.

Bryce Harper is not one to let an opposing pitcher show him up and he sure let Rockies pitcher Jake Bird know it.

Benches cleared in the top of the seventh inning in Denver after Bird clapped his glove at Harper and the Phillies dugout following a fly out from Bryson Stott.

Harper was at the front of it all, earning himself an ejection along with Bird as tempers flared.

Tempers were high at Coors Field even before the outburst between Harper and Bird. So it wasn’t exactly a surprise to see the benches clear.

Harper was making his 10th appearance of the season for Philadelphia, slashing .361/.439/.611 as though he hadn’t just come back incredibly early from Tommy John surgery. He was 0-for-3 on the day before his ejection.

Bird took over in the top of the seventh with the Rockies protecting a 4-0 lead and promptly walked two Phillies. He got out of the jam when Edmundo Sosa grounded into a double play and Stott popped one into left field.

The Phillies bested the Rockies in the first two games off the series to extend their winning streak to five games. However, Colorado got off to a quick start on Sunday with two runs in the first inning on an error by Trea Turner. They tacked on two more runs in the fifth with a Brenton Doyle home run and an RBI single from Kris Bryant.
