The LSU Tigers football team will be able to combat the heat in the 2023 season with specially designed helmets.

The LSU Tigers had quite the season in the very first year with head coach Brian Kelly at the helm. After a tough loss to Florida State to start the year, the Tigers won nine of their next 12 games, with one of those victories coming against the Alabama Crimson Tide in overtime. With this, the expectations for LSU are understandably high.

Ahead of 2023, the Tigers will unveil a pretty cool feature to their uniforms. And we emphasize the word “cool.”

Tigeraire, a Louisiana-based company founded in 2020 that makes “revolutionary airflow acceleration technology for hard hats and football helmets,” filmed a video of LSU football players reacting to “air-conditioned helmets.” Let’s just say that the players loved them, based on the company’s TikTok video showing them the new helmets.

LSU to wear air-conditioned helmets for the 2023 season

As you can hear in the video, the Tigers football team will be wearing these helmets for the upcoming season and practice. For those wondering how long the airflow lasts when in use, the answer is five hours!

This could be an actual game changer, as players on LSU will be able to keep cool during the most extreme temperatures, or pivotal moments of games.

The Tigers are looking to build off of their impressive 2022 campaign, where they made it to the SEC Championship Game, and won the Citrus Bowl by defeating the Purdue Boilermakers 63-7. Their 2023 season starts like it did last year, with a game against Florida State. But the goal is the same as it is every year for LSU — win the College Football Playoff National Championship.

LSU will be using this air-conditioned technology for the 2023 season. It may only be a matter of time before other teams seek out similar technology.
