Saturday was full of rain delays across the MLB and the Cubs and Guardians couldn’t escape their own.

Before the second game of the weekend series could begin on schedule at 6:15 p.m. CT or 7:15 p.m ET, the weather got in the way.

The Cubs officially announced the delay on Twitter with the tarp covering the field. However, they did not immediately give an indication of how long the wait would be for first pitch. The wait is now on.

UPDATE: Play resumed at 9:00 p.m. CT

8:00 p.m. CT: As of now, we don’t know exactly when the Cubs-Guardians game will start. Accuweather suggests rain will turn light around 8:05 p.m. central, getting even lighter at 8:20, and then ramping back up slightly around 8:40 p.m. The window is opening, if the intention is to play this game tonight.

This post will be updated as more information is learned about the Cubs rain delay.

When the game does get going, Marcus Stroman will take the mound to duke it out with Tanner Bibee.

The Cubs are hoping for a typically strong pitching performance from Stroman as they look to build off Friday’s excellent performance. Chicago trounced the Guardians in the first game of the series, 10-1. That win ended a four-game losing skid and helped the team bounce back from a series sweep at the hands of the Phillies.

The Guardians, thoroughly humbled on Friday, are looking to regain their footing in the series.

Of course, the rain needs to let up for either team to go out their and prove their worth.

The Pirates also had their game against the Brewers delayed on Saturday while the Cardinals and Yankees ended up in two rain delays during the first game of a doubleheader in St. Louis.
