On Tuesday afternoon, video surfaced from ESPN Outside the Lines that showed Rutgers Scarlet Knights head basketball coach Mike Rice verbally and physically abusing his players. Now only was the video disgusting and unacceptable, but it created a strong reaction across social media as sports figures and analysts were giving their thoughts on the completely unnecessary coaching “techniques.”

Rice is supposed to be a leader of young men and a figure that should help them develop as human beings off the court.

With the way that they were treated, Rice did nothing but hurt the athletes. It wasn’t coaching. It was bullying. Rice knew he could get away with the terrible behavior because the kids he was bullying couldn’t react. These kids need their scholarships and hitting back or reacting in a way that Rice deserved would have gotten them canned and ruined their futures.

Instead, they were forced to withstand the punishment as the low-life abused them.

We’ve gathered some of the top reactions from around Twitter to share the thoughts of key members of the sports world as they caught wind of and saw the horrify video of Rice’s reactions.
