Mexico was able to get their World Cup qualifying campaign back on the winning track on Tuesday night when they toppled Jamaica by a score of 1-0. El Tri entered National Stadium in Kingston desperate for a win, and that is just the result that manager José Manuel “Chepo” de la Torre and company received.

For de la Torre, it was this win that likely saved his job. It was Aldo de Nigris who scored the lone goal of the match in the 48th minute to give the Mexicans the win.

Mexico will now turn their attention to two tough qualifiers against Panama and Costa Rica, but they sit at the top of their group.

For Jamaica, they will now turn their attention towards the United States for a contest this Friday. The last time the two met on the pitch it was the Reggae Boyz that came away victorious.

The United States will be looking for a different result this time around.
