Patriots Alfonzo Dennard likely out for Broncos, maybe longer
By Peter Smith
According to Jeff Howe from the Boston Globe, New England Patriots cornerback Alfonzo Dennard is unexpected to be able to play against the Denver Broncos and maybe longer due to a knee injury. The injury showed up on the Patriot’s injury report this past week. The concern for the Patriots is obvious as they prepare to take on the league’s most potent passing attack in the Broncos.
The Patriots secondary is already hurting as Aqib Talib battles a nagging hip injury that has cost him three games and looked to be re-aggrivated last against the Carolina Panthers. The Patriots get the Broncos at home but with Peyton Manning and their litany of weapons at his disposal, the Patriots need every healthy defensive back they can get.
With the circumstances under which the Patriots lost last night and the controversial call, the Patriots are sitting at 7-3. They have a two game lead in the AFC East but took a big step back in the battle for home field advantage as they are now two games behind the Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs. A loss to the Broncos could all but end their hopes of being able to stay at Foxboro until the Super Bowl during their playoff run and might put their chances of getting a first round bye in jeopardy as well.
