Carlos Triunfel is in Brian Wilson’s doghouse after this effort from Sunday night. Wilson, in for mop-up duty with the Dodgers up 8-1, gets the easy double-play grounder but Triunfel, rather than go to second to start the DP, throws to first for one out.

More from Los Angeles Dodgers

Wilson expresses his visible irritation with Triunfel, whose decision to go to first for one instead of starting the seemingly routine DP costs Wilson a run.

The run means nothing in terms of the game, but you can understand why Wilson is nevertheless upset with Triunfel. That raises Wilson’s ERA a little, which could come back to bite him come contract negotiation time.

The way I look at it, and the way Wilson obviously looks at it, is that Triunfel basically took money out of Wilson’s pocket with that decision. Wilson may not be able to pay his tattoo artist or his hair stylist now.

Triunfel at the very least owes Wilson dinner. Possibly two dinners. Wilson should make Triunfel take him to dinner then order the soup. It’s not dinner Triunfel, it’s just soup. You still owe me dinner!
