Bennie Boatwright commits to USC: Trojans nab 4-Star SF
When Andy Enfield left Florida Gulf Coast to take “Dunk City” to Los Angeles and the USC Trojans, many believed he could turn things around. Of course, before doing anything else, Boatwright had to bring more talent in the program and he seems well on the way to doing that.

In the class of 2015, the Trojans already have a commitment from 4-Star Chimezie Metu. On Thursday, they picked up their second commitment when 4-Star small forward Bennie Boatwright gave his pledge to the Trojans. The 6’9, 215-pounder is from Mission Hills, California and attends Village Christian. Being close to home was a priority for him.
“It was a tough decision,” Boatwright told Scout.com. “You can’t lose going to any of these schools. The thing that separated them was he wanted to be close to home and SC was the choice. My son thinks he fits well in their style of ball.”
Boatwright’s father, Bennie Boatwright, Sr. explained Enfield and assists coach Jason Hart sealed the deal.
“We’ve been knowing Jason since he was at Taft high school,” Boatwright Sr. said. “Then he went to Pepperdine. He’s been the leader of Bennie’s recruitment. He’s come to a lot of games. He brought coach Enfield to a lot of games and that was important to him.”
“Enfield came to a lot of games,” Boatwright Sr. said. “That was important. Their style of play fits Bennie. They are going to utilize him on the perimeter and as a mismatch.”
Boatwright is ranked as the country’s 10th-best small forward prospect, the sixth-best overall prospect in the state of California and the 52nd-best overall prospect in the class of 2015 according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Boatwright holds offers from powers like the Arizona Wildcats, Kansas Jayhawks and rival UCLA Bruins.
