After dominating the Korean Baseball League this season, Yang Hyeon-Jong will look to make the jump to Major League Baseball.

Yang Hyeon-Jong is currently the best pitcher in Korea, and after winning the country’s equivalent to the Cy Young award in 2014, he is ready for a new test. The Kia Tigers star will be looking to make the jump to the major leagues, and the Korean team will post him in allowing him to do so.

At 26 years old, Hyeon-Jong will join an already star studded pool of starting pitchers in the free agent market. In an article from the New York Daily News, Heyon-Jong is broken down in what is expected from him at the major league level:

"Yang projects as a No. 3 starter in the big-leagues, though according to a scout that has seen him throw, he could develop into a No. 2. With a fastball that sits between 92-95 mph, Yang throws four pitches – fastball, curveball, slider and changeup – using his slider as his out pitch."

After Hyun-Jin Ryu was posted by the Hanwha Eagles, he went on to sign a six-year $36 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. This was on top of a $25.7 million big allowing the Dodgers to be able to exclusively negotiate with the pitcher. Ryu went on to become the first player to jump from the Korean Baseball league to Major League Baseball.

The New York Yankees have already stated that they would not be big players in the free agent market this offseason. With names like Jon Lester and Max Scherzer out there, a pitcher like Hyeon-Jong may be available to the Yankees at a much more team friendly price point.

After having to completely retool the rotation twice in 2014, the New York Yankees will be looking to make sure they have pitching options going into the 2015 season.
