Will 2015 finally be the year that the Chicago Cubs end their 107-year World Series title drought? Here are five reasons why it could be.

When it comes to the most championship-starved teams in all of sports, look no further than the Chicago Cubs.

None of the players on the current roster were alive the last time the Cubs won a World Series. Nor were their fathers. And most likely, not their grandfathers either.

The Cubs have not won a World Series title since 1908, the longest championship drought in professional sports. “This is the year” has been the mantra of hope for decades, yet this statement has failed to ring true for over a century. The last time the Cubs even made the playoffs was in 2008, and they have not won a postseason game since 2003.

So why then will 2015 finally be the year?

Well for one, they have a pitching staff that is built for playoff success. The top of the Cubs’ starting rotation is equipped with a pair of aces that are capable of taking over a game on any given day, and a No. 3 starter that has proved to be equally effective.

They also have a talented lineup that is finally starting to play up to its abilities as we head toward the final month of the regular season.

Perhaps most importantly, though, they are the hottest team in baseball right, and it appears as if nothing can stand in their way. Just a few weeks ago, the Cubs’ playoff hopes looked very dim. But over the course of the past 10 games they have gone 9-1 with the only loss coming against the cross-town rival White Sox. As a result, they currently have a four game stronghold on the final wildcard slot in the National League.

The team is beginning to click on all cylinders at the perfect moment, and if they keep this pace up, there is not a team in baseball that is capable of stopping them.

Here are five reasons why the Cubs can win it all in 2015.
