Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, who has been fighting cancer for years, had a biopsy surgery after his latest test results came back inconclusive.

For the last three years, former NFL quarterback Jim Kelly has been battling an opponent tougher than anything he faced on the field during his Hall of Fame career with the Buffalo Bills: cancer.

After his initial diagnosis of cancer in the jaw area in June of 2013, Kelly went through surgery and announced shortly after that he was cancer free. Nearly nine months later in March of 2014, Kelly announced that it had returned and he went through a ruling stretch of chemo and radiation that eventually did its job.

For the last 18 months, Kelly has been cancer free after repeated tests with his doctors. That streak may be coming to an end after his most recent test came back inconclusive for whether or not the cancer had returned.

Kelly’s wife, Jill, posted a picture on social media showing Jim getting ready for a biopsy surgery to find out if it has indeed returned:

It doesn’t matter if you were a fan of Kelly during his time in the NFL or not, because his fight against this horrible disease has been enough to even make the biggest cynic want him to continue his streak of being cancer-free.

There are very few people in this world who haven’t been affected in some way by cancer, so you can understand to a degree what the Kelly family has been going through. Keep fighting, Jim!
