Brandon Marshall is expected to sign a two-year deal with the New York Giants.

After being cut by the New York Jets, wide receiver Brandon Marshall drew a lot of attention in free agency. The veteran receiver remains one of the best in the NFL, even at the age of 32. Marshall has made his decision, according to Adam Schefter. He’s expected to sign a two-year deal with the New York Giants.

Marshall should make the Giants an even better team. He’s still a dangerous receiver, notching over 700 receiving yards in 2016 despite playing in a terrible Jets offense. Marshall is one season removed from having over 1,500 receiving yards and leading the NFL in touchdown catches.

Moreover, he should help Odell Beckham Jr. OBJ is extremely talented, but needs someone to mentor him. Marshall should be a great thing for him, as Marshall can probably relate a bit to him. The veteran receiver, much like Beckham, used to be a pain in the butt off the field. However, Marshall has since changed and can perhaps help OBJ gets his priorities in line.

Another important thing is he doesn’t have to move. Marshall has had to move to different teams throughout his career, and it’s always a tough thing to do with a family. By signing with the Giants, he gets to stay in New York and play for a contending team.

With Marshall signed, the Giants’ attention will likely turn to re-signing Jason Pierre Paul. He’s a premier pass rusher and an important leader in the Giants locker room. JPP likely wants a long-term deal, but he’s well worth it. The Giants suffered a first round exit in the playoffs last season after losing to the Green Bay Packers.
