The Detroit Pistons fired their head coach Maurice Cheeks over the weekend and now the team is trying to pick up the pieces and turn what should be a winning team into a contender in the Eastern Conference. Sitting at 21-29 and less than a game behind the Charlotte Bobcats and the eighth seed in the playoffs, the Pistons may look to make some trades at the deadline, but we know one player who won’t be discussed.

Greg Monroe’s name has been brought up a few times but the Pistons have seemingly gone out of their way to aggressively deny that he’s available. Steve Kyler form Basketball Insiders states that not only are the Pistons turning teams away who ask about Monroe, but he says the asking price for the big man is excessively high.

"Having spoken with teams trying to pry Monroe out of Detroit the price tag on him is EXCESSIVELY high. You are not getting Greg for anything that doesn’t include a borderline All-Star or a top tier draft pick. It might take both."

The Pistons really don’t want to trade Monroe and will have plenty of money in the offseason to make sure he coms back next season. A trade is unlikely but someone might overpay the Pistons to pry Monroe away.
