Orlando Magic guard Arron Afflalo to return Wednesday against Houston Rockets
By Brad Rowland
After missing the past five games with an ankle injury, Orlando Magic shooting guard Arron Afflalo is expected to be in the lineup when the team hosts the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night.
John Denton of the Magic’s official website reports that Afflalo is back and ready to go on Wednesday, and that is a huge plus for Orlando given that he has been the best player on the roster this season. In 53 games, Afflalo has averaged 19.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game (with a very solid PER of 17.59), and many people believe that he was one of the more significant All-Star “snubs” during the selection process.
It remains to be seen (as noted above) whether point guard Jameer Nelson will join Afflalo in the backcourt, but even if he can’t go, the Magic will be in much better shape than they have been during his absence. If Nelson can’t go, look for Jacque Vaughn to utilize some sort of rotation that includes Ronnie Price, E’Twaun Moore, and Victor Oladipo at the point guard spot.
