The Atlanta Hawks barely got into the postseason this year and while they were bounced by the Indiana Pacers in seven games, they nearly pulled off a historic upset that many still can’t stop talking about. But while the Hawks played well as a team in that series against the Pacers, not everyone will be back in 2014-15 and Al Horford is a name that may come back up around the draft as it apparently has in the past.

More from Atlanta Hawks

In Zach Lowe’s weekly column for Grantland, he points out that the Atlanta Hawks are among the wild card suitors for Lance Stephenson and that the team has dangled Al Horford in a targeted fashion’.

"No one can figure these guys out, which means Danny Ferry is doing his thing. They have cap flexibility and a good roster, though they dangled Al Horford at last year’s trade deadline in a very targeted fashion, per sources around the league."

Aside from the Lance Stephenson angle to this story, the Hawks dangling Horford could be something that comes back around as we near the NBA Draft. He’s hardly going to get the trade attention that Kevin Love will get, but Horford is still a solid player that plenty of NBA teams would love to get their hands on.

Of course, they may no longer be interested in trying to trade Horford, but we may see some dangling again during the draft and if that’s the case then the Hawks might be able to cash in on someone who values what Horford can offer.
