With no trades made back in July, the focus for the Phillies is now on making deals in August and that’s what it looks like they might be doing. After putting pitcher Cole Hamels on waviers, trying to get him through so he can be traded, an unknown team has claimed the ace which means a trade could be coming soon.
Sources: Hamels claimed on revocable trade waivers by unidentified club. #Phillies have 48 hours to work out a trade or pull him back.

The Phillies can now either hand Hamels over to this team free of charge, of course dumping his $104 million salary in the process, or they could trade him to that team and that team only. THe third option would be to retain Hamels, pull him back of of waivers and just keep him.
Either way, if the Phillies really do want to get rid of Hamels then they have their last opportunity until the winter to do so.
