Josh Smith says he’s willing to play any position for Detroit Pistons
By Josh Hill
The Detroit Pistons did not get what they wanted out of Josh Smith last year and that’s primarily why the team is looking to get an extra big year out of him in 2014-15.

Smith floundered from three-point land last year and just wasn’t an impact player at all which was an issue given how much he’s making with the Pistons. But both Detroit and Smith want better things this year which is why Smith is willing to get versatile in where he plays.
Recently, Smith told Keith Langlois of Pistons.com that he is willing to lay any position for the pistons so long as he’s helping the team out.
"“I’m ready to play whatever position is asked of me. But I’m going to play a lot of [power forward] and that was my main focus on being able to get more in the weight room and put some more muscle on my body to be able to withstand that physicality in the paint. I played that position so much, so long in the league that I know how big you have to be in order to be able, night in and night out, to withstand that impact and that physical nature inside the paint.”"
Smith needs to have a big season in Detroit if for nothing other than to maximize his trade value to the team. Detroit already has a high asking price for him but should Smith come around this year, then he will be worth what Detroit wants. Then again, if he steps up his game then there will be no reason at all for Detroit to even pursue a trade with Smith.
