Helped: Kevin White, WR, West Virginia

Kevin White was always solidly in the first-round on my board, but with what he did at the combine, he could potentially jump into the top 10, or even top five. Everyone knew he was big and athletic, but he was so impressive in Indianapolis that some think he may have surpassed Alabama’s Amari Cooper as the top receiver in the 2015 NFL Draft.

White measured in at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, showing the ideal NFL frame everyone knew he had. But what he did on workout day was impressive. The 22-year-old raced to a 4.35 40-yard dash time that left some jaws on the floor, then posted 23 reps on the bench press. In both of those drills he showed the rare strength/speed combination he possesses for the position. His broad jump (123 inches) and vertical jump (36.5 inches) were solid, as were his agility drills. But the 40 and the bench press separated him from the pack.

White is a strong, fast, aggressive wide receiver, but we didn’t know just how strong and fast until his showing at the combine. On tape he reminds me of Dez Bryant from his time at Oklahoma State. After the combine, I like that comparison even more.
