It happens all the time to the rich and famous. They get famous, they get their money, and then all of a sudden, all these people from their past start coming out of the woodwork, asking for things.

Take the case of Michael Jordan. The Charlotte Hornets owner was recently officially added to Forbes’ list of billionaires. And oh look, here’s Magic Johnson on Twitter.

Why, how nice of you to congratulate your friend with no ulterior motive–

Despicable. The man earned his own money; why can’t you just leave him alone, Magic Johnson? You’ve got your own money: $500 million of it according to Fortune. Sure that’s less than half of what Jordan has, but come on, leave the man alone. Go enjoy your stake in the Dodgers and let him be.

More from NBA

Jordan was added to the list of Forbes billionaires yesterday. Most of his assets are in the form of his majority ownership in the Charlotte Hornets, believed to be worth between $500 and 700 million. He also continues to make crazy amounts of money from the Air Jordan line with Nike–about $90 million a year according to the Forbes story.

Between the two of them, Jordan and Johnson have become quite the businessmen since retiring from basketball. Maybe they can get a competition together with Larry Bird to see which ’80s star can “win” retirement?

Let’s tally things up so far: Jordan has the most money and visibility, but once attempted a Hitler mustache, which has to set him back at least a little. Johnson has part ownership of the Dodgers, but it’s a very small part; he was on NBA Countdown, but he was later let go from the show. Bird continues to quietly be really good at running the Pacers, and is still the only person ever to be MVP, Coach of the Year, and Executive of the Year. He might just be sneakily winning this (totally made-up) competition.
