March Madness is here, and the heartbreak that SMU is feeling has turned to anger after a questionable goaltending call ended their season.

The UCLA Bruins weren’t even supposed to be in March Madness, and they’re now onto the Round of 32 to face UAB after a pair of stunning upsets. The Bruins were behind and reeling in the final seconds of their game against the SMU Mustangs, but one call changed the game and ended the season for SMU.

A goaltending call ended up going against SMU on a shot that seemed as though it was trending wide of the rim. But the ball’s trajectory really depends on who you were rooting for, as SMU fans swear that the ball was going wide where UCLA fans aren’t going to argue that the goaltending call was the right one to make.

Really, it’s up to the individual to decide.

In reality, it was up to the officials to make the call, and it was a call that ended SMU’s season in a flash. From the point where the call was made to the final two shots by the Mustangs, it seemed like a blur. But the bottom line is that the goaltending was called, it won’t be reversed and the SMU Mustangs are going home on a call we won’t be leaving alone for a while.
