Reports claim that exiting Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp would be interested in the Liverpool job, despite his plans to take a break from the game

Liverpool fans were today given the daydream of having Jurgen Klopp as their manager, with many of them saying they would love the German in charge instead of current manager Brendan Rodgers. Klopp has spoke of his plans to take six months off from the game, but German newspaper Bild claims that Liverpool could change his mind.

Liverpool have come out in support of Brendan Rodgers and claim that he will be in charge when next season begins, however there has been widespread speculation that they are considering alternative options.

Rodgers endured a woeful season this year, losing out on Champions League football and failing to win a cup yet again. His latest disappointing season has lead to some fans calling for his job.

However the question remains that if Jurgen Klopp came in, would he do any better? He himself had a horrible season with Dortmund that saw the German side finish 7th. He would need a period of adjustment and be left with a lot of the same problems that Brendan Rodgers currently faces.

  • Raheem Sterling wants to leave.
  • No Champions League football.
  • No quality strikers.
  • Steven Gerrard leaving a huge void in the team.

Personally I think some Liverpool fans are jumping the gun by calling for Rodgers’ job, yes he had a horrible season that was mostly caused by his failure in the transfer market. However, those fans are forgetting that the Northern Irishman brought them to the brink of Premier League glory the prior season and won Manager of the Year as a result.

Only time will tell if the club will stick with Rodgers or bring in Klopp, or perhaps even a different manager. As a Liverpool fan, I hope they stick with Brendan until at least December and see how the land lays. If reports that Klopp is taking six months out of the game are true, he will still be an option come the half way mark of the season.
