32. Final. 25. 55. 13

The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

No Ben Roethlisberger, no problem for the Pittsburgh Steelers. No Michael Vick, still no problem for the home team. After Michael Vick went down against the Arizona Cardinals, Landry Jones stepped up in relief to help guide the dinged up Steelers to victory.

It’s wild to say as much given the moribund management against the Ravens two weeks ago, but Mike Tomlin might be putting on the best coaching performance of his career. Pittsburgh’s defense wasn’t supposed to be worth a lick, yet they’ve kept the Steelers in every ballgame, and helped weather the storm.

As for Arizona, it’s the second time this season that the Cardinals have fallen to a team they most certainly should’ve beaten. Arizona’s running game was nonexistent, and an uneven game by Carson Palmer – including two interceptions – ended up being their undoing.

It’s not the end of the world for the Cardinals, given early East Coast road games for West Coast squads tend to be a bear, but given the nature of this one (going up against a third-stringer) it got away. Both Pittsburgh and Arizona have winnable games next week.
