The Philadelphia Eagles are 4-4 and trying to turn the proverbial corner, and suddenly another wrench has been thrown into the machine. In the second half on Sunday afternoon against the Miami Dolphins at Lincoln Financial Field, quarterback Sam Bradford went down with an undisclosed injury, opening the door for Mark Sanchez.

Sanchez is in his second season with the Eagles after spending the first five of his professional career with the New York Jets. Sanchez was a first-round pick out of the University of Southern California back in 2009, and he appeared to be a franchise quarterback. The Sanchize led New York to the AFC Championship game in each of his first two seasons, only to fall on both occasions.

Last year, Sanchez replaced Nick Foles after he broke his clavicle against the Houston Texans at the midway point of the season. Sanchez helped Philadelphia to a 10-6 record but it missed the playoffs, something that was pinned largely on the turnovers by Sanchez. The 29-year-old threw for 2,418 yards and 14 touchdowns but also tossed 11 interceptions and had a penchant for missing wide-open receivers.

Without Bradford, the Eagles are going to struggle, even in the brutally bad NFC East. Philadelphia came into the day a half-game behind the division-leading New York Giants.
