Watch Fenway Park transform into a football field for Notre Dame vs Boston College
Fenway Park transforms into a football field for Saturday’s game between Notre Dame and Boston College
For the first time in nearly 50 years — 47 years to be exact — Fenway Park will host a football game when No. 4 Notre Dame (9-1) travels to Beantown to take on Boston College (3-7) in this year’s version of the Shamrock Series. It is also the 23rd edition of the “Holy War” rivalry game between the two programs.
Notre Dame leads the all-time series against BC with a record of 13-9; the last time these two programs met was back on November 10, 2012. Coincidentally, Notre Dame at the time was the No. 4 ranked team in the nation, and that day they traveled down Commonwealth Avenue to Chestnut Hill instead, defeating BC 21-6.
Here is a video that shows how Fenway Park transformed into a football field before Saturday’s game:
The attention to detail put into the game has been tremendous. Fenway’s famous Green Monster also had its scoreboard transformed to reflect Saturday’s slate of games:
"Fenway Park is going all out for the Notre Dame-BC game this Saturday."
The last football game played at Fenway Park was the last game the New England Patriots played there on Dec. 1, 1968. Through Fenway’s previous years, it has held home games for its hometown programs Boston University and BC, and New England area program Dartmouth.
BC looks to play spoiler tonight with Notre Dame currently sitting at No. 4 in this week’s College Football Playoff Rankings. Notre Dame vs. Boston College will be broadcast on the NBC Sports Network starting at 7:30 p.m. ET.
