Desmond King. 17. player. 28.
The Oakland Raiders took a massive step forward this season thanks to the effort of their new front office who was able to reload the roster with a wealth of young talents including quarterback Derek Carr, receiver Amari Cooper and pass rusher Khalil Mack among others. This has formed the core of what the team will be moving forward, but there is still work left to do before they are relevant in the AFC.

Where they can start is improving the pass defense. Despite an upgraded pass rush, the Raiders have had all sorts of problems stopping teams through the air. With one game left they are 27th in the league, allowing 266 passing yards per game. Former first round pick D.J. Hayden hasn’t panned out as hoped. David Amerson has been a nice surprise but it takes more than one decent corner to stop teams in the NFL.

Iowa standout Desmond King may not win awards for being the biggest, strongest or fastest but he’s no slouch in either of those categories and he’s done enough in 2015 to prove he may be the best ball hawk in his class. With eight interceptions on the season he’s tied for 2nd in college football. To say nothing of his other qualities including toughness and physicality as a tackler.
. CB. Iowa
