Philadelphia Eagles: 5 reasons Sean Payton should be hired
By Phil Naegely
4. Experience working with successful quarterbacks
Payton’s time with the Saints has been alongside Drew Brees. They both found success individually and together in their nine years together. Outside of New Orleans, Payton spent time coaching great NFL quarterbacks, such as Quincy Carter, Vinny Testaverde, and Drew Bledsoe with the Dallas Cowboys as the quarterbacks coach. Each one of them threw for 3,000-yard seasons under Payton’s leadership.
This experience bodes well for the Eagles organization. They are in a stage where they have to consider if Sam Bradford will stay or return for the 2016 season. With Payton’s leadership the Eagles should keep Bradford in town. He, like the other quarterbacks who succeeded under Payton, will be to grow and become a better quarterback.
Drew Brees didn’t become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL overnight. It took time to grow and mature, but he found success in New Orleans because of Payton’s guidance and experience. Payton has experience at the quarterbacks position at the coaching level.
Coaching some of the game’s best passing threats would be a God send for the Eagles. There’s no one else on the job market with as much experience as Payton. They need to sign him as soon as he is available, so the Eagles can find quick success under Payton in 2016.
