The Bruins got off to a perfect start as Patrice Bergeron scored on a breakaway just 45 seconds in.

The Bruins haven’t had a great season, but they always find success against the Maple Leafs. It took them just 45 seconds to find the back of the net against Jonathan Bernier, as Torey Krug’s stretch pass put Patrice Bergeron in on a breakaway. It doesn’t take much to beat Bernier, but Bergeron put on some nice moves before burying it.

After going his first 10 starts without a win, it seemed like Bernier was starting to get his confidence back. But he was in net for a 7-0 beatdown against the Sharks which started a 4-game losing streak and put them back in the Auston Matthews sweepstakes. Sure Bergeron is a great player, but you can’t be giving up a goal on the first shot of the game.

The Bruins have won only 2 of their last 7 games, but they’re looking to build momentum after a 4-1 win over the Sabres. Despite their struggles, the Atlantic division is up for grabs. It seemed like it was Montreal’s division to lose at the start of the season, but the Panthers have surged to the top while the Canadiens fell into a slump. To make matters worse, they recently acquired the People’s All-Star and perennial goon John Scott. As it stands, the Bruins are currently in a playoff spot and need to just get a mini-rally going if they want to start challenging for the top of the division.
