In an absolutely critical contest against Liverpool on Tuesday, Jamie Vardy ensured Leicester City’s dream season continued with an absolute stunner.Â
With fans and media alike continuing to ask just how long can Leicester City remain in the race for the Premier League title, Claudio Ranieri’s men continue to shock the world. They hosted Liverpool in a crucial match on Tuesday, looking to remain atop the table. The Foxes came into the match three points ahead of both Arsenal and Manchester City, but with Sergio Aguero putting the Citizens up 1-0 at halftime in their match against Sunderland, they knew three points were going to be essential.
Much like Aguero has rescued Manchester City on numerous occasions this season, Jamie Vardy has been equally important for Leicester City. The club’s leading scorer had 16 goals coming into Tuesday’s match at King Power Stadium and was eager ti make it 17. With the match scoreless in the 60th minute, the 29-year-old decided to take matters into his own hands. Not only did he steal the show by opening the scoring on the night, he did it by putting an absolute stunner past Liverpool goalkeeper, Simon Mignolet.
The Englishman wasn’t done there though, adding another to his tally and scoring his 18th league goal of the season in the 72nd minute. Although it wasn’t quite as eye-pleasing as his first, it counts the same and almost guaranteed that Leicester City will remain in first place.
Leicester City will not have much time to rest on their laurels following their match against Liverpool, as they take on Manchester City next in another critical affair. The Foxes will to travel to Manchester to play in the opening match on Saturday, at 7:45 a.m. ET.
