Sergio Aguero gives Manchester City the lead (Video)

Sergio Aguero scored in just the 16th minute of the match against Sunderland, to give Manchester City a 1-0 lead at the Stadium of Light.

With FA Cup matches dominating the weekend, the Premier League was back in action on Tuesday for a round of midweek games. With both Leicester City and Arsenal in action, Manchester City knew that they needed to earn three points against Sunderland.

The club’s Argentine striker, Sergio Aguero, has been in blistering form all season long and he wasted no time at the Stadium of Light. In just the 16th minute of the match, Aguero buried Jesus Navas’ cross from the right side past Sunderland goalkeeper, Vito Mannone, to give his team the 1-0 lead.

Aguero came into Tuesday’s match with 12 goals and two assists in 16 league matches. He is currently in this fifth season with Manchester City, winning two Premier League titles with the club. The Argentine would love to make it three league titles in five years, and his goal on Tuesday could go a long way in making that dream a reality.

Manchester City came into the match against Sunderland tied in second, level on points with Arsenal. The two teams had 44 points from 23 matches, while Leicester City sat in first with 47 points from 23 games. However, in the Premier League no lead is ever safe and the title race is looking set to go down to the wire.

Manchester City will be back in action on the weekend, when they Leicester City in a crucial contest on Saturday at 7:45 a.m. ET.
