Browns’ Corey Coleman has perfect response about size concerns
Newest Browns receiver Corey Coleman had the greatest response when asked about his lack of size
Unlike in many previous years, one unique thing about the 2016 NFL Draft coming into Round 1 that got underway on Thursday in Chicago was the depth of top-end wide receivers in the draft class. Before the draft ever got underway, there were at least three and possibly more receivers that seemed likely to be selected in the first round. However, that the Cleveland Browns traded back to the No. 15 pick and made former Baylor Bears standout Corey Coleman the first receiver to come off the board.
Though Coleman was prolific in Baylor’s high-octane offense in college, one of the biggest concerns about him is his lack of size, which some scouts worry will limit his playmaking ability on 50-50 balls among other things. While he’s not denying that he’s smaller than even other receivers in this draft class, the former Bear isn’t hiding from it.
After being selected by the Browns and talking to the press, Corey Coleman was asked about the concerns regarding his size and being too small. In response, the newest resident of Cleveland delivered the early candidate for quote of the NFL Draft:
That’s just too perfect and is exactly the type of mentality you want a young NFL player. That’s the type of viewpoint that gives a player that invaluable mental edge over his opponents and makes a player great.
We’ll see how going to the Browns works out for Corey Coleman. As of draft night, though, the former Baylor wideout has the perfect mentality as he enters the ranks of professional football.
