Nike isn’t ready to give up on pushing Kobe Bryant merchandise as a new Kobe 11 sneaker is unveiled

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant just finished his legendary 20-year career a couple of months ago, but one of his biggest sponsors isn’t ready to close the door on selling his merchandise.

Nike has recently dropped a new version of Kobe 11 sneakers overseas, which are being called the GCR version, which stands for “Great Career Recall.” As of now, it’s unknown if the new shoe will make its way to the states.

The shoe features a similar color scheme as some other Kobe shoes as it dons the same gold and black that was on the “Fade to Black” version of the Kobe 11’s as well as the “Mamba Day iD.” It was also the same color of the logo for the April 13th event also known as “Mamba Day” where other Nike stars celebrated the career of Bryant.

Bryant was the first guard ever drafted straight out of High School after being selected 13th overall by the Charlotte Hornets. The team had already agreed to trade the selection to the Lakers, who gave up starting center Vlade Divac for the rights to the 17-year-old star-in-waiting.

After two decades Bryant recorded five NBA Titles, 18 All-Star appearances, 11 First Team All-NBA appearances, two scoring titles and one MVP award. He recorded an 81-point game in 2006 and ten-years later reminded everyone how great he still is by dropping 60 in his final game.
