According to a report, the four NFL players in the Al Jazeera report must complete an interview with the league soon or they will be suspended.

When a report from Al Jazeera first surfaced toward the end of last season, that indicted multiple NFL players in conjunction with PED use, it took the league by storm. However, the credibility of the report was immediately put to the test and things began to dissipate over time. It doesn’t appear that the league is done handling the situation yet. They have been trying to get interviews with the players listed in the article and they’re getting rebuked at each corner.

According to a document sent from the NFL to the NFLPA, which was obtained by ProFootballTalk, the league has given the players in question a deadline to meet with the league or they will be suspended. Those players are Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers, Mike Neal and James Harrison.

According to that letter, those players will have until August 25 to meet with the league. It also notes that the suspension will continue until each individual has met with the league and after that league commissioner Roger Goodell will determine whether or not to lift the suspension. Which could set an interesting precedent.

Coming off the heels of defeating Tom Brady and the New England Patriots by ultimately suspending Brady, the NFL is now bringing the hammer down on four individuals. It’s going to be interesting to see whether or not this spurs them to meet with the league, but it’s clear the league has had enough trying to meet with them with no viable results. If past incidents in the league are any indication, this could get ugly.
